I take the uncertainty of the future as a challenge, however I take great comfort in the belief that tomorrow has the potential to be better, I have always been a big believer in that fact that all things work together for a person’s best outcome, almost what is meant to be will be. But that is no excuse to not be on it when it comes to preparing for one’s future.
I’ve always had big dreams. For as long as I can remember I would constantly tell my mum – and anyone that would listen – about all the things I wanted to achieve. If there is one thing, I have learnt on my journey to pursuing my goals, it’s that what you do today really matters tomorrow.
So many of us have big dreams, and ideas but never take action today to do it. Some of you might not know that we are in the process of trying to move to our second home (Can you believe it), but looking back I know that things like this don’t just ‘happen’ and action is a must for creating anything for tomorrow. It’s an exciting time again but the process is quite long and complicated, but I am sure I will share more on that soon.
In today’s world, information and resources are in abundance and never more than a click away and you all know that I am obsessed with excel and any form of planning tool on the market and so when Aviva asked me to think about my future self and shared with me the Aviva ‘Shape my Future tool’ I was bang on it because using something that is going to make me reflect and think about the future can never be a bad thing. I love the fact that as I went through the questions on the Shape my Future tool, it became clearer to me that I know the kind of lifestyle that I want, and it wont just happen if I don’t make any changes. I kind of realised I want a lavish life ‘haha’ – I want to travel with my friends and family as much as I want, to dine out when the mood takes me, and to not have to worry about things is something that will take work and action now, but I’m not worried, I’m motivated! Next for me is to really to get to grips with my desires by creating a mood board with some life aspirations and then to decide on what steps I am going to take to get me there.
So, for the planners out there, and actually non-planners! It’s worthwhile to take a step back and enjoy the present but also get excited about the future you want for yourself. Be it a dream car, a metropolitan flat, lazing on the beach for 5 years at a time it’s up to you, but think about it now and work towards it so eventually it can become a reality and not just a dream.
