There are days when I wake up and just feel…‘blah’. Everyone has those days and a lot of the time we feel like we have to be 100% when we don’t actually feel 100%. To help me get through the days when I’m just not feeling like I’m on top of my game, I have mastered a few steps that I like to put into place to help get me out of my slump.
1. Get Fresh
Chances are that if you look good, you feel good. I like to start off by getting myself fresh and in the right state of mind to tackle the day (even when I’d rather bum around in my pyjamas eating ice cream). An important part of my morning routine is my dental hygiene regimen. I like to use a toothpaste with whitening properties like Expert White from Colgate or even a whitening pen, to give my smile that extra dazzle. A shower, a facemask, and a bit of makeup go a long way on the days when I really need the extra boost.
2. Be Productive
If you didn’t know, I am a control freak! I love excel, notes, documentation, power point – basically anything that increases productivity. But there are days when I am down and I avoid doing any work and fall into a lazy slump. I’ve found that getting 1 or 2 tasks ticked off of my list will always make a difference.
3. Get Active
Exercise really can make a world of difference. On days when I’m in a bit of a funk, I find that just putting on my running shoes and getting out exposes me to a new environment, gets my blood and those feel-good endorphins pumping which lightens my mood and gives me a fresh perspective.
4. The 3 F’s – Food, Family, Friends
These 3 F’s are the best medicine for the soul and gives me a confidence boost on days when I am not feeling 100. Being with my family and friends, enjoying good food always brings out the best version of me. I like to jump on a phone call, or invite the girls over for a pizza and a chinwag, instantly I always feel better.
