There’s nothing like having skin that glows this time of year, however having oily skin means there is a fine line between that dazzle and looking like an oil slick. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who has to worry about staying on the right side of that very thin line on a daily basis. So to help, I’m going to go ahead and share with you my favourite ways to banish the oil and achieve the perfect glow.

We all know the term fur coat and no knickers…well a face can be like that. It’s so important to focus on what goes underneath your makeup especially if you have oily skin. A well cleansed and moisturised face is the perfect base for flawless make-up application important as well as a great moisuriser and primer. The Murad Invisibur Perfecting Shield is my current favourite, and I have mentioned over and over again because it is that good. It has been giving me the perfect matte base before putting on my foundation and it even acts as an SPF.

Try to get foundations with the words ‘Luminous’ ‘Glow’ ‘Iridescent’ , and avoid ‘Dewy’. I’ve found that I need a foundation which contains reflective particles rather than an oily base. These are more suited to my skin and give me the perfect glow without the oil. The Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is great for this and has an amazing shade range. My shade is deep bronze.

Keep it focused and clean! I try to avoid over-highlighting but the tops of my cheek bones and the bridge of my nose always look amazing with a touch of gold applied sparingly with a fan brush. I like to use highlight to make only the best areas of my face stand out. My current favourite highlight is the Illamasqua Beyond Powder in Epic Warm Bronze.

Once the face is beat and glowing for the ‘Gawds,’ the lips and eyes should always have some attention, I like to keep my eyes matte if I am going for a glowy look but I always keep my lips popping. If you don’t know about the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Lip Palette then you’ve seriously been missing out! Not only are they affordable but they are available in an amazing range of colours with a buttery finish. These are my current lip essentials, the nude palette is my favourite go to.

Don’t forget the rest of your body. Those legs, arms and chest also need some love. Body oils and mists give you a little extra than a regular moisturiser and last for hours. The Neutrogena Deep Moisture Body Oil is perfect to achieve just that.
If you’ve been trying to get get that effortless, sun-kissed glow, I hope this little break down of my current faves will help you to get it just right.

Stunning images! Also typo in the header, it’s ‘achieve’ x

  • “My Gawd” as you put it, I need that highlighter. I’ve been looking for something like that, it looks great on you. I also have the loreal lip pallet in red, doesn’t let me down, though I would like the nude (where has it been hiding) and your pictures are SEXYYYYY : )

  • As an oily girl also, I try to stay away from the glow during this time of the year. However, I am open to trying a little highlighter what won’t make me look like a grease machine. Beautiful pictures!

  • That highlighter is everything! Just added to my summer must haves.

  • Loved this post P!x

  • Love the tips! I really need to get on the highlight bandwagon. When I was younger I would add the glow with some bronzer but I haven’t paid it any mind since.

  • You look so gorgeous in these photos! I’m currently using a foundation that is considered dewy and you’re so right – I look like a disco ball after a few hours. Will have to try your advice on finding foundations with those adjectives.

As much as I appreciate others when have beautiful makeup on, I am still more of a bare makeup girl. Maybe because I do not have the necessary products, I don’t know. But that Illuminator is everything. Beautiful as always. Will you be doing a post with your baby girl Patty?

    • Me too! I like the nude colors but I’m winter I spice it up with deep cranberries, and chocolates. Probably because they make me hungry. LOL! ? It’s why I started a blog myself on natural to nude to soft makeup and all over looks. I just started it too. Try e.l.f. And Jordana’s products. Cheaper and good quality. ?
